I am euro asian. My gradfather was in WWII... He did not like his leaders though had no choice and he could not dishonor our family. He now agrees, even with his best friends family dieing in the nagasaki; as terrible as it was, The idealism of honor was not going to end. Japan would of fought or have the whole civilization committe mass suicide before giving in. If you see letters for Iwo Jima that would really help out your understanding. My grandfather once was ordered to commit suicide on guada canal ( however you spell that). He was told it is honorable for him and his family. He did not do it and felt shame even though there was no need to.
Where I am getting here is that, My country would of not stopped till sad to say, get some since knocked into there head.
The old japan shown its stubbornness in many battles and fought to the last man and caused way more casualties than needed.
So think before you speak.
Innocent die in war. War is hell. It will always be hell. It is impossible to not have war without innocent death, and some times there must be. Sadly but truely.
So both sides of you guys. Stop your feud. You are both right and wrong.

She asks, "Why?", "How could such terrible things happen?"
How about the invasion and subjugation of China, Korea, the Philippines among others?
How about the death of 12.1 million Chinese between 1937 and 1945?
Yes this was a horrible act but not doing it would have been worse. Had my grandfather's generation not have found a way to cripple this genocidal generation of Japanese leaders perhaps millions more people would have died as a result of their unbridled aggression.
I am proud to be an American patriot and proud of what we did in ww2 to bring aggressive inhumane totalitarian regimes to an end. I am also just as proud of George Bush for trying to do the same for the sake of good Muslims everywhere who chafe under the inhumane rule of radical gangsters.
Yes, we were attacked but our loss is no less important or significant than the kids who were roasted alive and served on a platter to their parents in Diyala province in Iraq last winter. American blood is no less valuable to God than the 40 women who were beaten to death by radical islamists in Basra this last month. When any one person's rights as a human are taken away unjustly by another, all of our rights have been assaulted. I am proud that America is trying to stand up for truth and justice throughout the world and not just trying to assert the American way.

"The Iraqi's today"????? Some people are just completely ignorant.
Some Jabronie | Sat, 08/11/2007 - 08:02
This should be done to the USA. Most of the world's people would prefer if anyone is nuked, it is the Master Blsters themselves. Nobody else is a big enough threat to world peace that it would be worth going to such extremes. But the USA is, the greatest genocidal killer ever, from the American Indians to Iraqis today they have directly caused the deaths of about 100 million people.
Most of the world's Nukes are already in the uSA, it would not even be expensive to transport them there in the first place.
Yea, the people who had influence or responsibility for everything you're doing. Including your processors of your computer that you used to write this post, as well as the operating system. Let's not forget, take away hollywood and all the movies. You won't miss them right? Oh wait, music. Yes music, lets see, pretty much everything top 10 is from the USA? Yep this place is worthless.
The USA is nothing more than Europeans that broke away from the caveman mentality and wanted to move further faster. Here we are, to stay. If the human race is to evolve, china, the middle east needs to disappear.

We should do the same to Iraq, Iran, Syria, Somalia and Pakistan. I would have no problem with that.

This is something that should be see by many. The horror of it is something that should not happen again.

When using such language filled with hate, only shows your weekness. A true soldier even in battle respects life. But, you could never understand that. You are the kind of guy who would hide behind a curtain. You will probably come back to attack with more vitriol. Its sad you will never understand. Your sad, my friend.

It has been proven time and time again that more people, perhaps as many as 5 million Japanese (mostly civilians) and 250,000 to 500,000 Allied soldiers would have died had the Allies invaded Japan. That is a considerable increase compared to those who actually died as a result of the two atomic weapons dropped on Japan. Look at what happened when Russia invaded Berlin in World War II. Using those two weapons saved millions of lives at the cost of hundreds of thousands. Anyone who thinks this was terrorism knows nothing about what went on then and probably has no inkling what is going on today.
Waschtl | Mon, 07/09/2007 - 02:44
may not have been terrorism but definately a warcrime ...
killing hundreds of thousands of civillians instead of valuable soldiers how else are you going to call that.
a warcrime similar to the nazi ghettos or the bombings of german cities - no difference at all ....
NO JUSTIFICATION FOR THAT
Some Jabronie | Fri, 06/15/2007 - 18:23
A necessary evil. This ended the war before it got even bloodier. More people would have died from continued conventional bombings and the resulting invasion.
And don't forget, they started it with Pearl Harbor. This was a war, not terrorism.
To: Some Jabronie, Very well put.
From: a veteran who understands.
